Pregnancy
Staying active throughout your pregnancy is hugely beneficial for both you and your baby. It is so important to prepare your body for both delivery and your post-natal life to ensure that you are able to function optimally and feel healthy, positive and energised. In the one to one personal training sessions we will work together to create an effective exercise and lifestyle programme that will fit around your changing body and baby. Throughout pregnancy and the different trimesters your body is constantly adapting and this is why it is necessary to tailor the exercise programme to your specific fitness goals, needs and capabilities. As well as toning and exercising your whole body, a real focus will be placed on developing your pelvic floor and core strength to prepare your body for delivery and postnatal life with your baby.

Postnatal
Having had a baby, it is vital for you to stay active and exercise regularly so that you are able to carry out all of the day to day tasks involved in having a newborn baby as well as restoring function and stability throughout your core and pelvic floor. Stephanie will start by having an honest and detailed consultation with you to find out about your delivery and any postnatal difficulties that you may be experiencing. Back pain, soft tissue trauma from an episiotomy or tear, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, rectus diastasis (where the muscles and connective tissue in the abdominal wall have separated), pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence are all common problems for postnatal women and need to be taken into account when starting or returning to exercise and personal training. As well as weight loss and toning, it is important initially to focus on regaining good posture as well learning to engage with and strengthen your core and pelvic floor muscles. This is done using exercise and movement, breathing techniques and equipment such as resistance bands. It is important to start with this so that your core is able to withstand intra-abdominal pressure that exercise places on it. Using this as a base from which to work from, we will gradually progress you onto a more advanced exercise programme. One to one postnatal personal training sessions will enable you to work closely with Stephanie to develop a postnatal exercise programme that is tailored to your individual needs and is guaranteed to allow you to achieve your health and fitness goals.
