With the lovely weather at the moment, I’ve been trying to get all of my personal training clients to exercise outside in the fresh air and to top up on their Vitamin D. Here’s a speedy calorie burning outdoor workout that you can try in the garden or in a park that requires no equipment at all. Within each circuit do each exercise one after the other with no rest in between. Do 3 rounds of each circuit with a small rest in between each round:
Circuit 1
One leg squats – 12 on each leg
Walking lunges – 45 secs
Plank walk outs (start standing, bend at the knees and put your hands on the floor. Walk yourself out into a long arm plank using your hands and then push yourself back up again to standing. Keep core in tight throughout) – 1 minute
Circuit 2
Wall squat hold – for as long as you can!
Tricep dips (use a chair or step) – 45 secs
Sprint (or sprint on the spot) – 30 secs
Circuit 3
Burpees – 45 secs
Plank hold with foot tap out (hold a normal plank position and then tap one foot out to the side and back in again. Alternate feet and keep your hips as still as you can) – 30 secs
Side plank hold – 20 secs each side
