I’ve been a little quiet on here for a while as my Husband and I welcomed our beautiful little boy into the world in September. Being a Mum is the best feeling in the world and I’ve really enjoyed spending all of my time over the last few months with our little man!
Although I’ve done a lot of pre/postnatal personal training with clients in the past, experiencing it myself has been such a learning curve.
Up until about 16 weeks of pregnancy I suffered from bad morning (more like all day!) sickness. As much as I had planned to [...]
Continue Reading ->With this beautiful sunny weather, I’ve tried to exercise as much as I can outside instead of being stuck inside the gym. As it’s been so hot, I’ve focused on doing shorter but more intense HIIT workouts which I’ve really been enjoying. I’ve been going to different nearby parks every day around Walton-on-Thames and Esher to do these workouts (and taking our sausage dog Ralphie along with me so that he get his walk too and can have a good run around!) Sometimes I take a few pieces of equipment with me that I would use in my personal training [...]

This is for anyone who is looking to get fit, lose weight, tone up or generally maintain fitness levels. I use a mixture of resistance exercise, circuit training, high intensity workouts and stability and core work to ensure that the personal training sessions are always effective, fun and challenging. Every client is given a tailored exercise programme that will focus on your specific goals and will provide you with programmes to do in between personal training sessions to keep you on track.
I’m happy [...]
Continue Reading ->Happy New Year!
This week I’ve been talking to my personal training clients about what they want to achieve this year. Everyone is going to have different goals but for most it will involve losing weight or getting fitter. A lot of my clients that I’ve spoken to over the past week feel bad about what they’ve eaten over Christmas and the lack of exercise that they’ve done. Christmas is a time for enjoying yourself and relaxing but this doesn’t mean that you have to throw yourself into the New Year by going crazy at the gym 7 days a week [...]
Continue Reading ->With the lovely weather at the moment, I’ve been trying to get all of my personal training clients to exercise outside in the fresh air and to top up on their Vitamin D. Here’s a speedy calorie burning outdoor workout that you can try in the garden or in a park that requires no equipment at all. Within each circuit do each exercise one after the other with no rest in between. Do 3 rounds of each circuit with a small rest in between each round:
Circuit 1
One leg squats – 12 on each leg
Walking lunges – 45 secs
Plank walk outs [...]
Continue Reading ->I was speaking to a new personal training client yesterday who said that she’s stuck in a bit of a rut with her exercise routine and tends to do the same exercises each time and doesn’t find it particularly difficult anymore. To keep improving fitness levels it’s really important to keep your exercise varied and challenging.
If you do the same routine every time, here are some simple ways to push yourself just that little bit harder:
- Add a resistance band – tie a resistance band around your thighs or ankles and you can still do all of your squats, lunges [...]
Continue Reading ->At this time of year, after indulging over Christmas, most people are on a mission to get fit, lose a few pounds and eat healthily. High intensity fat burning circuits are a brilliant way of increasing fitness levels and the best thing about them is that they don’t take up too much time. I use circuit type workouts a lot with my personal training clients and after even just a few weeks of doing them consistently you can see a real improvement in endurance and fitness levels.
Here are 3 mini circuits that you can do at home that don’t require [...]

Every time I’m there I realise just how different and healthy the lifestyle is over there. Firstly when we’re there we do so much more walking. There are a lot of roads within the village that you can’t get a car down easily which means that people tend to walk to most places. In fact, there’s a 1km walk from where we park our car up to the [...]
Continue Reading ->Along with many others this summer, I’ve become completely addicted to the Olympic Games. I think the athletes who compete are so motivational and inspiring and it really does encourage a lot of people to get involved in sports and become more active. I’ve been really enjoying reading and hearing about the different athlete’s stories – so many of them have overcome such challenging times in their lives and had to work so hard to come back from having to take time out due to injury. The dedication that they show to their training and sport is absolutely incredible.
I’ve also [...]
Continue Reading ->A few weeks back I read a really interesting article on the psychological effects of sports injury. Since studying Psychology at university and now working as a Personal Trainer, I’m fascinated by the psychological research around sports injury recovery and personal training. I think it’s so important to take it into account when working with clients in helping them in their journey to recovery.
I’ve currently got a sports injury and have really noticed the impact it’s had on me psychologically and so have been doing a lot of reading into it. A few months back I started getting a pain [...]
