At this time of year, after indulging over Christmas, most people are on a mission to get fit, lose a few pounds and eat healthily. High intensity fat burning circuits are a brilliant way of increasing fitness levels and the best thing about them is that they don’t take up too much time. I use circuit type workouts a lot with my personal training clients and after even just a few weeks of doing them consistently you can see a real improvement in endurance and fitness levels.
Here are 3 mini circuits that you can do at home that don’t require any equipment so there’s no excuse not to do them! Within each circuit do each exercise one after the other with no rest in between. Make sure you do 3 rounds of each circuit and you can have a little rest in between each round (but not too long as you want to keep your heart rate high).
Circuit 1:
Squats x 15
High knee run – 45 secs
Burpees – 45 secs
Circuit 2:
Lunges x 15 each leg
Mountain climbers x 20
Plank hold – as long as you can hold for with good form
Circuit 3:
Squat jumps x 15
Press ups x 15
Fast step ups (the higher step you can find the harder it will be) – 45 secs
If you’re speedy this really shouldn’t take more than half an hour to do and you’ll feel like you’ve had a real whole body workout – just make sure to stretch afterwards! Good luck!
