New Year, New Goals!

personal training

Happy New Year! With the start of 2014 it’s time to make some positive changes and set yourself some goals. Here are a few ideas to get you going:

Book onto an event to get you motivated for the New Year. It can be a cross country run, triathlon, half marathon, trek, mud run, cycle challenge, swimathon – anything that is going to be a challenge for you and gives you the chance to really focus and motivate you. It’s brilliant to have a goal to work towards and to plan your training around. I’ve just booked myself onto a triathlon for this summer and am really excited to push myself with my swimming, cycling and running training in the hope that I’ll be able to smash my previous year’s time. Even if it feels like an impossible feat at the moment, once booked on you’ll make sure you put in the training time and effort needed to succeed and just think how rewarding it will feel to achieve something that you thought you’d never be able to do.

Try out a new sport or hobby. Is there something that you’ve always wanted to try but have been a little hesitant to do? This year is the time to do it! There are so many exciting activities that we can do now so don’t spend your life wondering what it may be like to do them – make sure you make the effort to give them a go in 2014. Last year I tried water-skiing and paddle boarding for the first time and absolutely loved them both – I even took some of my clients down to the lake with me! I’ll definitely be continuing with them this year when the lake re-opens and am desperate to try kite surfing this year. The key to keeping fit and healthy is to keep exercise fun and varied, you’ll never get bored if you’re doing something you enjoy.

Eat clean. Everyone overindulges during Christmas and New Year and has stacks of food, chocolate and alcohol left over from the celebrations. To kick start healthy eating in the New Year, make sure you have a massive clear out of your cupboards and throw out anything bad that you may be tempted by – it’s much easier to resist eating chocolate and biscuits if they’re not in the cupboard in the first place. Put some time aside to plan out some healthy meals for the next few weeks so that you can go shopping and fill your kitchen with lots of fresh, healthy foods to get you back on track with your eating. I’ll be putting up some super healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes on here soon that are really easy and quick to make so there’s no excuse to eat badly.

Hope 2014 is a great year for you all!
