Olympic Games Motivation

personal training

Along with many others this summer, I’ve become completely addicted to the Olympic Games. I think the athletes who compete are so motivational and inspiring and it really does encourage a lot of people to get involved in sports and become more active. I’ve been really enjoying reading and hearing about the different athlete’s stories – so many of them have overcome such challenging times in their lives and had to work so hard to come back from having to take time out due to injury. The dedication that they show to their training and sport is absolutely incredible. olympics

I’ve also found it really interesting to hear about the mental and psychological side of competing in these types of competitions. As I’m typing this Sophie Hitchon has just won a bronze medal in the Women’s Hammer on her final throw where she managed to move from 5th to 3rd place. The mental strength and focus that she showed to keep calm and achieve a lifetime best on her final attempt under such intense pressure is amazing. In the interview with her afterwards she said that there were many times in her training where she felt like giving it all up but somehow, with the support of all of those around her, she managed to push through. It’s so inspiring to see how all of her hard work and dedication over the years has paid off.

I’ve been talking to my personal training clients about the Olympic Games over the past few weeks and everyone has agreed that it has such a positive impact on people all over the world. A client that I saw this morning was telling me that she likes to have it on in the background whilst she’s exercising as it really motivates her to work harder and I completely agree with her. Hopefully it’s inspired you to try a new sport and become more active!
